Youth

Temple Beth-El teenagers have many opportunities to interact socially with other Jewish teens in the South Bend area and in the larger region. Sixth, seventh, and eighth-graders participate in Beth-El Super Teens (BEST), while high school students participate in B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO) brother/sister chapters (AZA for boys, and BBG for girls). For more information, visit the local BBG chapter's website, or the BBYO national website.

Some of our Jewish teens also participate in regional events sponsored by the Chicago Area Region of the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), an affiliate of the Union for Reform Judaism.

In addition, during the summer many of our youth attend Olin Sang Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI) summer camp in Wisconsin, which is sponsored by the Union for Reform Judaism. OSRUI provides Jewish youth invaluable opportunities to experience Jewish education and make lifelong memories and friends.

For younger campers, the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley offers Camp Ideal, a summer day camp with three weeklong sessions for children between 5 and 12 years old. Camp Ideal features arts & crafts, sports, field trips, singing, hiking, drama, dancing, swimming, education about Israel, and much more.
